North American start-up that has developed a solution for cooking quality meats at home, offering an extensive menu of individually portioned, seasoned and prepared meats (50 items, 20 of which are available on its e-commerce site); consumers can enjoy restaurant-quality meals at home, prepared in the shortest possible time. Started in October '20 by two of the US's leading B2C food e-commerce experts, the company è was launched nationwide in the US in August '21 and is receiving orders from consumers across the country. The potential customer base includes the 294 million US meat consumers (about 90 per cent of the population): the distribution of the start-up's actual customers shows uniformity in both gender and size of urban area. In addition to the main sales channel, direct e-commerce, products can also be purchased through Amazon and other similar operators. The founders are experts in the supply chain of perishable products in the United States. They have used their expertise to build a supply and distribution chain that is easily scalable for their company but at the same time constitutes a barrier to entry.
Target
The company promoted a Seed fund round, aiming to raise $2m: with a pre-money valuation of $9m, this amount secures an 18.2% stake. Previously, the company has already raised around $1m from individual investors, including co-founders of Dropbox and Thumbtack and the president of the largest US conventionally-fed beef company.
